Scholars, Leaders, Athletes, and Gentlemen. This motto is a current mantra of the Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity. The Gamma Sigma Chapter has excelled in each of these four facets of a True Pike. In scholarship, during the past calendar year the chapter has held a QPA of 3.0 equal to the all-men’s average and much higher than the all-fraternity average. Campus leaders have become a trend in Gamma Sigma which over the past calendar year has featured two Greek Week Overalls, the Interfraternal Council President, and a Student Government Board Member. After winning the Greek Week Overall Award, Gamma Sigma has been recognized as a supreme athletic organization. The chapter completed a record high 900 community service hours and rose over $5,000 in philanthropy money donated demonstrating its stressed importance to acting like a Pike gentlemen. With Gamma Sigma doing so many great things, the newly elective Executive Board has set its goal very high. Clearly, Gamma Sigma has become a first class organization in which members are held by the ideals set by the International Fraternity. Gamma Sigma is increasingly dominating the University of Pittsburgh’s Greek Community and through this the chapter hopes to welcome alumni support throughout the upcoming years. “Once a Pike, Always a Pike!”

Message From Our Rush Chairman

message from Ray Ibe

I would like to welcome you to a new semester of Spring Rush at the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. The work we have been doing is paving way for a spectacular semester regarding recruitment. We are on a mission to have, by 5:01 Friday night, the largest semester of rush in recent history.

WORK HARD, PLAY HARD, RUSH PIKE. If these words have a special meaning to you then you will understand how much the letters Pi-K-A really can mean to a young man at the University of Pittsburgh. We are looking for men who exemplify the qualities of a Pike: scholars, leaders, athletes and gentlemen. A unique combination of these characteristics and a desire to increase your social network are two important reasons to pledge a fraternity.

Here at the Gamma Sigma Chapter my vision, through rush, is to transform the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, using all of our diverse talents, from the inside out. How important is transforming the brotherhood to rush? I believe that giving the brotherhood an incentive to provide quality names throughout Spring rush is the key to a successful rush. My committee has implemented a brotherhood incentive program which gives out points to each team, with 1 point for each name, 2 points for each time he shows up to a rush event, and 5 points if he signs a bid. The team with the highest point total after recruitment will be rewarded.

Our goal of eventually initiating 20 of the highest quality men at the University of Pittsburgh who exemplify the qualities of a Pike is slowly beginning to manifest. I ask if you have any recommendations please do not hesitate to contact myself or anyone at our chapter. We are extremely excited about the prospects of our house and look forward to your continued support!
